COSTA RICA — CASCARA

THIS IS NOT COFFEE… well, not in the traditional sense. Cascara is the dried fruit husk and skins of coffee cherries, traditionally discarded during coffee processing. Researchers in Costa Rica have developed a pasteurization method to turn it into food-grade cascara. The process eliminates bacterias while preserving all the health benefits. Interestingly, in this case, the coffee beans are the by-product. In the cup, cascara gives you a fruity and floral experience. It’s lightly caffeinated and wonderfully versatile. Enjoy hot or cold.
